Edith is a seasoned psychotherapist and counselor and has extensive training and experience. She holds the Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University (1990), and a two-year advanced credential from the Kantor Family Institute in Cambridge, MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is licensed by the state of Michigan as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), is affiliated with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and is qualified for self-regulated practice by the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW).
In her 18 years of practice she has worked in community mental health settings both in Massachusetts and Michigan. Her experience spans the life span from children (child welfare) and adolescents (drug abuse and acting out behaviors) through mid-life to old age. In private practice she has worked in the areas of marriage and family therapy, depression and anxiety, addictions, grief and loss.
She has taught classes, trained students, supervised clinical staff, facilitated groups, and offered presentations at conferences across the country. She has been published in a variety of publications.
Most recently her interest has turned to the difficulties in marriage related to affairs, pornography and addiction, as well as to divorce recovery and remarriage particularly as it relates to blending families.
She brings to her work an empathic understanding of pain and fragility blended with a call to growth and change. While acknowledging seemingly insurmountable difficulties, she works towards bringing out what is strong and resilient in each client.
She has a strong belief that if her clients are open to God’s provision, there is always hope for a brighter future with new understanding, skills, and the discovery of resources that serves to enrich lives.
